ADDRESS: 218 Laurel LN., Chester, California 96020
Chester California is an important stop for any Pacific Crest Trail Thru-hiker. It represents about the half way approximately 1,313 miles of the length of the trail. I of course had to stop at the post office to get a picture of the building. Although I did not have a mail drop to this one I still wanted to visit and get a picture of the building.
The pictures below are significant for a couple of reasons. The first thing you may notice is I’m wearing my backpack. Since I did not have my own transportation while in town I ended up carrying my backpack everywhere I went while in town. I was not planning on spending the night in Chester so I did not have a place to stash my pack while I was doing chores. So I carried my pack with me to the post office.
As I was sitting there a nice lady noticed I was trying to take my own picture. She offer to take it for me and I gladly accepted her offer. The self-portrait of me below is because of the kindness of this complete stranger. So there you go folks. This is another reason hiking and traveling is to enjoyable to me. Meeting people such as this nice lady is a classic example. Chester is also home to an extremely generous trail angel. I share some of experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail on my Fuzzy Monkey blog.
Thanks,
