Our mission today was to find the Des Plaines Illinois post office. My father had mentioned how impressive the paintings were at the Old Des Plaines post office so our travels brought us to area. Little did I know but there are two post offices in Des Plaines. One on Oakton (Shown in this article) and the downtown station. The paintings my father remembers are located in the former post office now owned by Journal & Topics.

While visiting this location there was an older couple who drove up while I was taking pictures. I immediately asked the gentleman if he knew where the original or former post office building was located. He gave me general directions and after finishing up my photos we set off to find the old building.

We also stopped at the Des Plaines Downtown station during this visit and will be featured in another article.
