ADDRESS: 110 Main St., Eddyville, Illinois 62928
Somehow I forgot to post this one last year. Back in September my girlfriend and I attempted to thru-hike the River to River Trail in Southern Illinois. The trail passes right through the town of Eddyville. unfortunately it was a bad year for deer ticks and we ended up bailing out here in Eddyville. Spent an abundant amount of time drying out gear at the local park while we were in town. I’ve really grown to love the photo below with packs and trekking poles.
Reflecting on this experience, I remember that I took these photos with my phone and not my regular camera. I found these as I was upgrading my phone and cleaning out old pictures and apps. I love traveling and our experience in Southern Illinois is an example of why.
After explaining out our dilemma to the local gas station attendant she graciously offered to drive us back to our car. For those familiar with Eddyville, there is nothing here. No cabs, no busses. We were essentially stuck here, so after trying to figure out what we were actually going to do, a ride from one of the locals was a blessing. Proof again that people are generally good.
Thanks,
