STATUS: The former Fairborn post office is no longer an active, operating postal facility. It is now home to the local public library. The mural was moved here to the newer post office building It is located on a wall in the main lobby.
YEAR: 1941
To be honest I wasn’t quite expecting to see the mural in this building. To my surprise however, the mural is housed here in the newer post office. Someone or somebody took the time to plan for the installation. As you can see from the images below, the mural is set into the wall and protected by glass. I’m delighted it has been protected and cared for.
However, this made my job of photographing it very difficult. Every angle I tried ended with reflections from the overhead lights reflecting off the glass. I ended up taking a bunch of photographs. I never achieved a reflection-free full photo of this one. Maybe someday, I’ll be able to get a better photograph, maybe when they remodel or take it down for restoration or cleaning. But until that happens, I hope you enjoy the photographs I did get.
