I actually took this picture back in the spring of 2007. I found these two pictures as I was going through my Appalachian Trail photos. For those of you who may not have been following along closely. In 2007 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. During this time I also photographed the post offices I stopped at along the way. If you know anything about thru-hiking then you know how much hikers need to rely on the post office for re-supply.

Fontana Dan is a perfect example of how important the post offices is for hikers. There were a bunch of us who needed to get into town to retrieve our re-supply from this neat little post office. My accommodations were at the Fontana Hilton shelter while I was there. Complete with bunk beds and nice yard.
