ADDRESS: 229 Main St, Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024
ARTIST: Henry Schnakenberg
TITLE: Washington at Fort Lee, Indiana’s Trading With The Half Moon, The Present Day, The Early Moving Pictures
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (murals)
STATUS: RIP Fort Lee Building, 1937-2023, Murals removed and placed into storage.
YEAR: 1941
The murals and fate of this building remain in jeopardy as the city has plans to demolish the building for park space. I along with others are against the city’s plans and could use any and all resources to ensure the building does not end up with date with the wrecking ball.
Several outlets have written about this one. I’m adding to the discussion by creating this article as another resource we can use to push for saving the building.
