ADDRESS: 111 Bridge St., Hot Springs, North Carolina 28743
If you are an Appalachian Trail hiker then most likely you have heard of Hot Springs, North Carolina. Why? Because the trail winds right through town and as a hiker you will walk right past the post office. How convenient is that? And as a hiker most likely you would have also mailed provisions here. The photo above represents the typical sight during the early hiking season. It’s not unusual to find backpacks outside while the hikers retrieve their re-supply. Thanks to the postal service and specifically to the Hot Springs Postal staff for putting up with all of us.
For all of these reasons, the photographs in today’s post office of the day are special. They represent a place hikers rely on for re-supply. Hot Springs is also a charming little town and famous for its natural hot springs in the area. Did I take advantage of this while I was there? You bet I did.
Are you a hiker? Did you stop at the Hot Springs Post Office to pickup provisions?
Thanks,
David W. Gates Jr.
