ADDRESS: 129 E. State St., Island Lake, Illinois 60042
My errands drove me past the Island Lake, IL post office today as well as the Lincolnshire post office. I was in a hurry to get home so I only stopped for a minute. This one is in a strip mall and does not have the name of the city on the outside of the building. I was disappointed not to see the name of the city. One reason I take pictures is to have a souvenir of the places I have been too. Since the Island Lake post office doesn’t have the name of the city anywhere, visitors have no idea which post office this is.
I didn’t even get out the tri-pod or ask anyone to take my picture at this one. There was no reason too. What do I say if someone ask? At least when I’m at a post office with the name of the city I have an excuse.
The post office has the newer USPS logo on the building above the doors. The rest of the mall has a certain decor with odd-looking triangles on the front of each business. This type of post office location is my least favorite, although, I’m still happy to stop and take pictures. It makes me appreciate all the unique ones I come across.
It did have a dedication plaque in the lobby. Dedicated in 1989 while George Bush was president. Anthony M. Frank was postmaster general.
