If you have ever tried to take a picture in a busy city like Chicago then you know it’s a challenge. My experience was no different trying to capture the Jefferson Park Post Office. The size of the building made this task a real a challenge. See you can only back up so far in front of the building. Throw in some traffic, some pedestrians and you get the idea.
The Jefferson Park post office is a strange mix of old and new. For one the corner-stone is near the door so not necessarily a corner-stone but that’s were the engraving is from when the building was constructed. The “strange” or distracting thing for me was the new signage on the old building. It looks out-of-place on such a period building. Once inside you are surrounded by a new modern lobby and counter.
I know it was probably necessary to bring this extremely busy post office up to date so I have mixed feelings about the modernizations.
Thanks,
