ADDRESS: 7440 W. Greenfield Ave. Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53214
ARTIST: Frances Foy
TITLE: Wisconsin Wild Flowers – Spring, Wisconsin Wild Flowers – Autumn
MEDIUM: Oil on canvas (murals) 2 panels
STATUS: The West Allis Branch Post Office is still active and the two mu- rals are viewable. One resides on the wall above the postmaster’s door. The other is on the opposite side of the lobby.
YEAR: 1943
While I was writing this post I also did a brief search and found out this nice post office has also made it onto the National Register of Historical Places. This according to the National Register of Historic Places website. Hopefully this status will at least keep this building open and accessible for all who visit.
Milwaukee is a busy place and because it was a beautiful day there were a lot of people out walking around. This made it difficult but not impossible to get my photographs. There are indeed two murals at this post office. One is inside the lobby/counter area and the other is in the outer lobby wall where the box office boxes are located.
Thanks,
