ADDRESS: 194 Ward St., Paterson, New Jersey 07510
For those who want to know my secret for getting images without people and cars. Well, I get up early for postal stations that are large like Patterson. I was here at 7:00AM to photograph the exterior of the building. During the summer this is great as I can get good lighting and low traffic at that early morning hour.
As you can see from the first image, this does not always work out, but if you wait around enough, eventually you can get some good shots with no cars or people.
The first thing I noticed during this visit were the huge lanterns at either entrance. These are huge and wonderful. It makes we want to visit at night when they are on just to see them lit up.
My mistake, I had though the wood relief was here at the main Patterson building, but it appears that relief is located in the Hawthorne branch building. I did not make it to the Hawthorne building during my May 2021 road trip.
I’m not entirely disappointed, as I knew there were a few inside pictures I’d need to revisit. Time to start planning the next trip. Maybe I can get the wife and kid onboard to make it a family vacation.
