ARTIST: Eugene Higgins
TITLE: The First Settlers

STATUS: The Post Office in Shawano is still active and the mural is view- able by the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1939
It was a cold early morning when I made it to Shawano. The sun was just starting to rise as I made it to the post office. I love the abundant of light I had in the mooring for this photograph. I hope you enjoy the Shawano Wisconsin Post Office.
The mural was difficult to photograph in Shawano. The light fixture hangs down from the ceiling making it difficult to view. I”m wondering if I put in a request to raise the light fixture if they would actually listen to me. I’d love to get a great photograph of the mural if it ever gets moved. So I tell you want, contact me when this happens so I can visit you again. Thanks Shawano for having a great post office.
Thanks,
David W. Gates Jr.
