STATUS: The Williamston post office is still an active, operating facility, and the mural can be viewed by interested members of the public. It resides in the lobby on the wall above the postmaster’s door.
YEAR: 1940
These are North Carolina post offices (M-Z) from my recent trip—September of 2022. The painting, in the post office in this eastern North Carolina town, commemorates the Wright brothers’ first experiment with flight, which happened just around 100 miles away in Kitty Hawk.
